Use of indoor GIS in healthcare
The aim of the available training material is to create a WebGIS which tracks the people’s positions in time. This application can be reused in cases of large buildings, like hospitals, for indoor tracking people or objects. Moreover, it can be used for tracking in their home impaired people, like for instance elderly.
The WebGIS shows the planimetric map of the building floor where the experiment was performed and the positions of the tags computed by the indoor positioning system. The WebGIS is enriched by a slider to filter the visualization of the positions in time. Moreover, a hotspot layer of the WebGIS shows where the tags (supposed to be people in the experiment ) have stayed most of the time.

This course is comprised of a single Module with the following materials: The e-Book “Risk Index Models”, a tutorial “Procedures to calculate the Risk Index” and exercise “GIS Modelling”. The Module also includes as supporting web application and data for the exercise.
After the training, the participants will be able to apply the scientific knowledge given by research activities to a more practical assessment of potential environmental hazard that could be useful to both public authorities or environmental consultants.

Location Enablement of e-Government
The Case Study “Location Enablement of e-Government” is implemented in the form of an Internship course. Normally, Internships run without specific ‘classic’ training. They are meant for students to apply their knowledge and skills acquired in other courses in an external company environment.
For this particular Case Study it was decided to develop 2 supporting modules for particular reasons. The first module “From INSPIRE to e-Government” aims at introducing the relationship between INSPIRE and e-Government at the beginning of the Internship, i.e. during the introductory company visit. This topic is not part of the ‘regular’ courses the student followed prior to the Internship. The second module, “Introduction to Agile development methods” was deemed necessary to introduce to the student the way software development is performed within the company in order to better understand how the company staff is working on a daily basis and to make the collaborative learning process during the Internship possible.
In other Internships other supporting materials might be necessary, depending on the practical project in which the student will cooperate. On the other hand the two developed modules might also be used in other case-based learning settings.

Infrastructure asset management is the combination of management, financial, economic, engineering and other practices applied to physical assets.
Data sharing refers to the technologies, procedures, standards and regulations to be applied when sharing data with external parties.
This course consists of 3 modules and is structured in 15 lectures.

GIS Applications in Forestry
The available training material is based on real cases and provide paradigms and data for three main areas in Forestry such as, Forest Risk Mapping, Forest Fire monitoring and Forest Fire simulation.
Its educational significance is considered of high importance and a strategic approach for delivering education and training resources for students in this field has been followed. Following this course is important in developing a more structured career path for forestry operatives , improve their skills and understanding of forest fires behaviour, while helping them to understand the needed training paths in order to be prepared for more complex analysis and use of various geodata sets.
Using the provided educational and training materials, the basic steps of developing a forestry geodatabase appropriate for further analysis and production, as well as the use of satellite image data and forest fire simulation techniques become gradually familiar to the student and help to formulate and test the steps needed for preparing the materials needed for supporting field operations and for executing real time forest fire simulations.
